BSTFLEX Glass fiber fire sleeve application

STEEL WORK / METAL SMELTING
Glass fiber fire sleeve with heavy silicone coatings have proved to be ideal for protecting cables and components from molten metal splash in the metal smelting industry. Fire sleeves are often used on induction melting furnace coils and hoses.

AEROSPACE
Aerospace grade fire sleeves are available. These are resistant to hydraulic fluids, lubricating oils and fuels. The Aerospace grade fire sleeves version allows qualified hose assemblies to meet AS1055D testing under stated flow and pressure conditions.

OIL RIGS
Glass fiber fire sleeve have been used to protect hoses and cables from harsh environments and to provide protection to personnel where hot hoses or components present a danger.

AUTOMOTIVE & MOTORCYCLE
Glass fiber fire sleeve and tapes have been adopted by performance car enthusiasts. The high temperature sleeves give protection to sensitive components allowing bundling of wires, hoses and cables

TRUCK AND BUS EXHAUSTS
Knitted fire sleeve produced from Basalt which are capable of withstanding and operating at 750 Degrees Celcius are being used to keep exhaust gases hot before they enter the catalytic converters on certain truck and bus designs.

INDUSTRY
In all industrial areas where sparks might fly and there is a need to protect sensitive electrical components, Glass fiber fire sleeve can be the solution.

HOSE PROTECTION
Glass fiber fire sleeve provide additional flexible insulation to control heat loss on hot hoses, and to provide protection to personnel that may come into contact with such hoses.

GENERATOR EXHAUSTS
Glass fiber fire sleeve are often used on the exhausts of generators to aid noise reduction and to provide protection for personnel working near the hot pipes.

CABLE & WIRING SYSTEMS
Glass fiber fire sleeve will give additional protection to cables and wires which pass close to any heat source. Typical examples would be in boilers, ovens and furnaces.

SPECIAL APPLICATIONS
Glass fiber fire sleeve are used in special applications - including additional insulation on fire fighting breathing apparatus hoses. The Fire Sleeve protects the hose from falling hot debris which could potentially damage the apparatus in service.

BSTFLEX Fire Sleeve with Metal Snap Closure

500°F / 260°C Continuous Exposure: Higher Intermittent
Fire Sleeve with Metal Snap Closure

Fire Sleeve with Metal Snap Closure provides molten splash and weld splatter protection to wires, cables, hoses, tubes and pipes.  Fire Sleeve with Metal Snap Closure provides a field installable protection sleeve utilizing metal snaps instead of Velcro closure strips.

Although Velcro sleeve such as our fire sleeve with velcro provides excellent protection in most harsh environments, only Fire Sleeve with Metal Snap Closure can endure the most demanding of liquid metal splash and heavy weld splatter. This sleeve also provides energy savings and personnel protection.

Snaps are typically installed at 4 or 6 inch spacing along the sleeve.  Additional snaps may easily be field installed to allow for unique bends or extra closure protection.

Silicone Treated Fire Sleeve

Silicone Treated Fire Sleeve
Silicone Treated Fire Sleeve is made of braided fiberglass with a special impregnated coating. This heat protection mesh is harmless and fully meets the requirements of health and safety regulations. The special coating is self-extinguishing and does not contain halogenated flameproof substances.
The coatings are resistant to oil and solvents. They have top mechanical resistance as well as good wear resistance.
Same features as other fire sleeve.

Fire Sleeve with Velcro
Fire sleeve with Velcro Hook Loop Closure is designed to protect hoses, wires and cables from the hazards of high heat and occasional flame. Using high temperature thread, a flame retardant hook-and-loop velcro closure system is sewn internally. Install without disconnecting hoses or cables.

Fire sleeve with Velcro Hook Loop Closure protects continuously to 260°C/500°F and will withstand a molten splash at 1200°C/2200°F. Made of knitted fiberglass yarns in a flexible substrate,it is then coated with a high grade silicone rubber.

Economic Fire Sleeve

Economic Fire Sleeve
500°F/260°C Continuous Exposure: Higher Intermittent

Economic Fire Sleeve can withstand repeated exposures to molten steel, molten aluminum and molten glass up to 3000°F (1650°C). The thick is thinner than industry fire sleeve.

Sheds splash immediately
Economic Grade Fire Sleeve withstands repeated exposures to molten steel, molten aluminum and molten glass up to 3000°F (1650°C). The heavy coating of our proprietary iron oxide red silicone rubber compound sheds molten metal splash immediately, so very little heat transfer occurs.

Withstands intense radiant heat and flame
Economic Grade Fire Sleeve will withstand continuous exposure to 500° F (260°C); up to 2000°F (1090°C) for 15-20 minutes; and up to 3000°F (1650°C) for 15-30 seconds. When exposed to flame, the silicone rubber transforms into a crust, creating a protective SiO2 refractory layer.

Economic Grade Fire Sleeve is constructed from high bulk glass fiber braided sleeve. Excellent modulus of elasticity makes it an excellent choice for bundling hoses, tubes and cables in a variety of hostile environments.

Protect your personnel and cut your energy loss
Economic Grade Fire Sleeve is insulation properties provide personnel with effective protection against burns from hot hoses and flexible steam lines, while reducing heat energy losses.

Always wear safety glasses, dust mask, gloves and long sleeves are recommended when handling this product

What is the fire sleeve

Fire sleeve is a common term for a Silicone coated fiberglass sleeve, generally used in industrial or aerospace applications.
Fiberglass acts as an insulator or barrier for constant temperatures up to 540ºC. Silicone is generally able to withstand temperatures up to about 260C degrees continuous. Silicone, however, has the added benefit of being able to withstand and repel much higher temperatures for short durations, including liquid molten metals.
Fire sleeve is used as a protective sleeve on industrial hoses, hydraulic hoses, cables, wires, etc.
Fire sleeve generally refers to two variations: An aerospace version is made with a braided fiberglass substrate and is commonly used in the aerospace industry. Its construction enables qualified hose assemblies to meet the SAE standards which have been established relative to the protection which this product provides.
An industrial version, constructed of a knitted fiberglass substrate is also available. Because it is less expensive it is more commonly used in hot industrial applications where this type of protection is needed. The industrial version will not meet the SAE standards.
Fiberglass sleeve—without the Silicone rubber coating—has a higher continuous temperature rating, up to 1000ºF or 540ºC and is available as a knitted or braided sleeve for protection of hoses and cables where molten splash protection or weld splatter protection is not required.
Fire sleeve is used for industry, aerospace, automotive, mining.
